Stepping Out on Faith

Ms. Miranda Paige Reid is a focused and goal driven young lady that was born in Alexandria, VA, but has been calling Fresno home since 2009.

Miranda loves cooking and traveling, but her focus and priority at hand is school. She is a second year business student with a concentration in marketing at Clark Atlanta University.

When faced with the daunting challenge of paying for college, Miranda took the initiative to start a home-based business selling t-shirts that she designed which says “Stepping Out on Faith”, and hand made tote bags. The tote bags are made from vintage fabrics which
she inherited from her Nana.
The t-shirts come in a rich deep purple, which is Miranda’s favorite color. The totes and tees are available online at http://www.totesandtees.ecwid.com. She has also been active in selling her items at community events, festivals, churches, and trade shows.

Miranda is a member of the St. Joseph Baptist Church in Fresno, where she has learned that faith is stepping out and doing what God has asked you to do when you can’t see what will happen in the end. You don’t know what God’s going to do in the end, but you trust and believe that He will do what is best for your situation so long as you step out in faith.
When Miranda is away at school she attends services on campus.
She may be away from home, but not away from service to Him who keeps her.

Miranda is excited about the fall semester that begins August 20th and if God says the same, she will be returning to school on the Aug 15th.

GraceFace Network is always excited and happy to see women of any age stepping out on faith to make their dreams come true. This young lady is working diligently to support her dream. It is my hope that we will support Miranda by purchasing a tote or tee or both to help her reach her goal. I sincerely believe with all my heart that we rise by lifting each other.

Before going Natural I would usually travel with 2-3 curling irons. I always ran into the problem of how to store them in my luggage. I found a cute and simple solution to this problem on another site and have made a few for girlfriends over the years. It is super easy and cheap! It will take you less than 10 minutes to make.

Step 1: take a new pot holder

Step 2: fold the potholder hot dog bun style

Step 3: sew around the edges leaving an opening at the top

Step 4: use!!!

A new twist on watermelon!!

I love watermelon!!! It is low in calories and refreshing ( 1 cup is  only 45 calories).  Now I hate water,  but I am learning the importance in drinking water daily. I have been trying different drinks to replace drinking my favorite PEPSI.  Today I ran across this recipe on skinnytaste.com and decided I would share it with you. I am going to try this tonight. Cheers!!!

Agua De Sandia (Watermelon Water)

Can’t think of anything more thirst quenching that this on a hot summer day like today – chilled watermelon pureed with water, a squeeze of lime juice over a large glass of ice. Agua fresca is as common in Mexico as ice tea is here in the States. And BONUS, since watermelon is naturally sweet, there’s no need to add any sugar!

Watermelon is an excellent source of vitamin C, lycopene, beta-carotene and a great choice for it’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant health benefits, so eat as much as you can, before the summer’s over.

Crusty Parmesan-Herb Zucchini Bites

Ingredients 4 medium, fresh zucchini, sliced in half 1/2 cup fresh Parmesan cheese, grated 1-2 tablespoons fresh rosemary & thyme, minced smidge of olive oil salt & pepper to taste Directions Pre-heat oven to 350F, lightly brush both sizes of the zucchini with olive oil and place on a foil-lined baking sheet. Mix cheese and herbs together in a small bowl and sprinkle over the zucchini along with salt and pepper to taste. Bake for 15 minutes and place under the broiler for the last 3-5 minutes until cheese is crispy and browned.

1 large zucchini, peeled
1 tbs olive oil
3/4 cup plain bread crumbs (you could use seasoned for extra flavor)

Healthy Hawaiian Blizzard 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk 1 banana 1/4 cup ice cubes 2 teaspoons honey, optional pineapple wedges, for garnish Directions In a blender, combine the pineapple chunks, coconut milk, banana, ice and, if desired, honey. Puree until smooth. Pour into 2 large glasses. Garnish each serving with a pineapple wedge.

Banana Bonkers Original recipe makes 6 servingsChang 3 bananas 3 cups fresh grapefruit juice 2 cups lemon sherbet 1 cup crushed ice Directions Puree bananas in a blender or food processor. In a gallon pitcher combine pureed bananas, grapefruit juice, lemon sherbet and crushed ice. Stir and serve

.   imageimage Raspberry  Coconut Smoothie Needed: Unsweetened coconut flakes, greek yogurt, coconut water (frozen in ice cubes), fresh raspberries, 1/2 frozen banana. Optional: Truvia. Directions: For the coconut layer blend 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes, 1/4 cup greek yogurt, 6 coconut water cubes. Add to glass and rinse blender. Next, blend 1 cup raspberries (frozen if possible), 1/2 a frozen banana and 1/4 cup greek yogurt. This layer will be very tart. If you prefer a sweeter taste add 1 teaspoon Truvia before blending. Add to glass. Garnish with coconut flakes. Enjoy!

Zucchini Lasagna

GLUTEN FREE!! LOW CARB!!! ALERT!!

Ingredients:
1 lb 93% lean beef
3 cloves garlic
1/2 onion
1 tsp olive oil
salt and pepper
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
3 medium zucchini, sliced 1/8″ thick
15 oz part-skim ricotta
16 oz part-skin mozzarella cheese, shredded (Sargento)
1/4 cup Parmigiano Reggiano
1 large egg

Directions:
In a medium sauce pan, brown meat and season with salt. When cooked drain in colander to remove any fat. Add olive oil to the pan and saute garlic and onions about 2 minutes. Return the meat to the pan, add tomatoes, basil, salt and pepper. Simmer on low for at least 30-40minutes, covered. Do not add extra water, the sauce should e thick.

Preheat oven to 350°.

 

In a medium bowl mix ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese and egg. Stir well.

In a 9×12 casserole spread some sauce on the bottom and layer the zucchini to cover. Then place some of the ricotta cheese mixture, then top with the mozzarella cheese and repeat the process until all your ingredients are used up. Top with sauce and mozzarella and cover with foil.

Bake 45 minutes covered at 375°, then uncovered 15 minutes. Let stand about 5 – 10 minutes before serving

Hawaiian Pineapple Smoked Pork Chops

Hawaiian Pineapple Pork

10 thick smoked pork chops
12 ounces ketchup (about half a bottle)
1-1/2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 small can crushed pineapple

Brown the pork chops slowly in a greased skillet just to a light golden brown; remove and transfer to an oven pan. Chops should be arranged in a single layer. In a saucepan, mix the remaining ingredients, except for the pineapple; bring to a boil and cook to thicken. Pour the sauce over the pork chops; top with the crushed pineapple, juice and all. Cover with foil and bake in a preheated 275 degree oven for 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Serve with a garden salad, green beans, creamed corn, and whole wheat dinner rolls.

The cost on this project was NONE if you use supplies you already have. It obviously can be done in 10 minutes or less, but depending on the detail and embellishments added, it can take a little more time.

Supplies:
■Nail polish
■Keys
■Clear laquer
■Tape
Directions:

Tape a round the shaft of the key to provide a clean paint line but also to protect it from getting paint on it that will chip when you put the key in and out of the lock.

Paint 2 -3 coats of nail polish, allowing the paint to dry in between coats. Be sure to paint the sides, too

Finally, after all the polish has completely dried, apply 1 -2 thin coats of clear glaze or lacquer on both sides allowing it to dry in between coats. It only takes 10 or so minutes for it to dry to the point of being able to handle it but you will want to wait 24 hours before using your key so it will fully harden

After dry, remove the tape and enjoy your fabulous new keys!

These red-white-and-blue popsicles are great to make when fresh blueberries and raspberries are in season. But other fruit, such as chopped strawberries or cherries, could work in this healthy popsicle.

Makes: About 10 (3-ounce) freezer pops

Serving Size: 1 (3-ounce) pop

Active Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 6 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1 cup raspberries
2 cups limeade

Preparation
1.Divide blueberries and raspberries among freezer-pop molds. Pour limeade over the berries. Insert the sticks and freeze until completely firm, about 6 hours. Dip the molds briefly in hot water before unmolding.
