It’s a ginger thing

Ginger is grown as a root and is a flexible ingredient that can be consumed in drinks (tea, beer, ale) or in cooking. It can be used to make foods spicy and even as a food preservative. For over 2000 years, Chinese medicine has recommended the use of ginger to help cure and prevent several health problems. It is known to promote energy circulation in the body and increase our body’s metabolic rate.

Here are two of my favorite ways to use and enjoy ginger.

DIY Ginger Slimming Body Wrap

“Mix 1 tablespoon of ginger paste with a few tablespoons of your favorite lotion. If you can’t find ginger paste, ground ginger is ok, but I would recommend the paste.  Be sure to be generous with the ginger.

Take a hand towel and wet it down in water as hot as you can stand it. Wring out the excess water then place it on the area you want to wrap for a few minutes until it cools. This opens up the pores, making the wrap twice as effective.  You can also do the wrap at night after your bath because your pores are already open and you can just sleep in it and shower in the morning to rinse.

Apply a thick layer over skin on the area you wish to reduce. Do not rub in. Wrap area with several layers of clear plastic wrap. Loosely wrap over that with Ace bandages, starting from the bottom and working your way up. Do not wrap too tightly or you will be uncomfortable. The goal is for it to be just tight enough to stay on. Any tighter than that and it will feel like a corset and you won’t be able to keep it on long enough to get results. Lay down or sit and relax. You don’t want to do too much bending or moving. You can get up and walk around if you need to. You are not confined to your bed or chair but take it easy. Watch a movie or read a book. This is your spa day so no housework until your wrap is over. You want to leave it on for at least 4 to 6 hours.  Right away you will begin to feel a tingling sensation as the ginger begins to work.  After we removed the wrap and wiped off the mixture we still felt the warmth on our skin minutes afters. It felt so good. We really enjoyed the ginger effect and found it really relaxing.
Some have lost as much as three inches! My Mom and I didn’t measure ourselves, but we really enjoyed our own do-it- yourself spa wrap and I hope you will too!

Ginger Lemon Tea

Boil a generous portion of the ginger root in a  medium pot of water.  After it comes to a rapid boil, remove the pot from the fire and cover with the lid.  Allow the tea to steep for at least 30 minutes to hour.  For a spicier ginger flavor, add a little ground ginger to the pot as it’s steeping. Add lemon to taste. I like to have a cup with breakfast and a cup after dinner. It’s tasty, spicy and it’s all good! Enjoy hot or cold.

Here ‘s a list of some of the amazing benefits of ginger that you may not aware of. Although some of these are still being debated, you could do your own research if you want to use ginger for medicinal purposes.

No More Key Mix Up!!!!

Super easy to make and a cute way to organize your keys on your key ring.

The cost on this project was NONE if you use supplies you already have. It obviously can be done in 10 minutes or less, but depending on the detail and embellishments added, it can take a little more time.

■Nail polish
■Clear laquer

Tape a round the shaft of the key to provide a clean paint line but also to protect it from getting paint on it that will chip when you put the key in and out of the lock.

Paint 2 -3 coats of nail polish, allowing the paint to dry in between coats. Be sure to paint the sides, too

Finally, after all the polish has completely dried, apply 1 -2 thin coats of clear glaze or lacquer on both sides allowing it to dry in between coats. It only takes 10 or so minutes for it to dry to the point of being able to handle it but you will want to wait 24 hours before using your key so it will fully harden

After dry, remove the tape and enjoy your fabulous new keys!
